Muli Bamboo
Scientific Name: Melocanna baccifera (Roxb.) Kurz
Origin: Bangladesh, Myanmar & Northeastern India
Uses: Widely used in building houses in Bangladesh. Even used for woven wares
(baskets, mats, handicrafts, etc.) and an important source of superior paper pulp.
The shoots are edible and constitute one of the important foods of the tribal
people of Chittagong.
Propagation: By Seed, Rhizome and Culm cuttings.
Rhizome Type: Clump forming or Sympodial
Culms: 20m tall and 1.5-4cm in diameter
